Lucy Morton

A lifelong resident of Hamilton, I have been married for over 35 years and have three children and two granddaughters.

I have been a Credit Union Member since the original opening under the “Stelco Credit Union” name.

I have worked as a community nurse for the Victorian Order of Nurses since 1982 and have also been the Local President of OPSEU 269 (Victorian Order of Nurses) since that time. In 2013, I was elected to sit as an Executive Board member for the Provincial, OPSEU (Ontario Public Service Employees Union) Board. I am now the Regional Vice President of Region 2 which goes from Fort Erie, wrapping around the Golden Horseshoe, Kitchener, Milton to North of Owen Sound.

I participated within the community as a Board member of both the Occupational Health Clinics for Ontario Workers (OCHOW) and the Workers Arts and Heritage Centre Museum (WAC). Previously, I was also the Vice-President of the Hamilton District Labour Council.

I possess the experience and knowledge that is required when working with multiple levels of discipline and external forces that together bring us to a common goal. My knowledge of the Credit Union system continues to grow with my experience on the Audit, Elections, Strategic Oversight and Governance Committees.

I have had the privilege of being able to take part in the growth and advancement of FirstOntario. I have witnessed FirstOntario successfully meet the financial needs of our Members, while also reaching out to our communities. I am proud of our contributions to our community programs, sponsorships, events and especially to our employee volunteer program, Blue Wave. My years as a Board Member have been challenging and rewarding. I am proud and honoured to have been a Board member for the last nine years. I ask that you allow me to continue to guide our vision into the future
