Deposit & Investment Insurance

Your deposits at FirstOntario are automatically insured under the Deposit Insurance Corporation of Ontario (DICO). DICO is the Provincial Agency providing deposit insurance protection for the Members of Ontario Credit Unions and Caisses Populaires.

Member deposits are insured to a maximum of:

 

•  $100,000 for the combined total of all deposits

              PLUS

• $100,000 for deposits in each additional registered savings plan

 

Separate insurance protection is provided for deposits held in joint accounts, trust accounts and business accounts.

 

DICO insures all deposits in Canadian currency payable in Canada.

Deposits include: savings and chequing accounts, term deposits, guaranteed investments, interest and dividends payable on deposits.

Home and Auto Insurance

Ontario Credit Union Members have strength in numbers - and that means more purchasing power for you. That power qualifies you for very competitive Home and Auto insurance rates through the Credit Union Insurance Services (CUIS) program.

The CUIS program offers savings on your Home Insurance if you've been claim-free for 3 years, have a home that is less than 30 years old or are 55 or older. On Auto Insurance, you can save if you have an anti-theft device installed in your vehicle, have been claim-free for 3 years or have more than one car insured on the same policy.
